Ah, another one of Billy's schemes. This is one of my favorites.
There was a series in Calvin and Hobbes in which Calvin made a TV screen out of cardboard and went around documenting things in his household. I don't think I meant to copy that in such a big way, but I guess it's okay to throw in tiny similarities to pay homage to my favorite strip. It's kind of like an easter egg or something. I don't know.

Not a lot to say about the strip today.
But, recently I finished an animated film for school! It's the first part of three, and they center around two characters lost in the woods, a guy and a turtle. (Apparently I lost my ability to think up new characters after Harley and Pete came along.) It's my first decent-sized flash animation, and I hope you guys will check it out! The next two will hopefully be done this summer. https://vimeo.com/125080777

This and the next two strips were drawn in Topsail, North Carolina! (Wow, none of the non-colored strips in this set were drawn at home!) It's a great place, and I got some great strip ideas there.
I like this one. As I said once before, I always like it when Billy uses fairly complicated words in normal conversation. It makes him sound like he's been planning out his lines for hours, rather than winging it. I think that's always pretty funny. I also like the last panel, because it kinda has three punch lines.

This is pretty much how I feel about visitor centers. They're never as interesting as you think they'll be.

I don't really like Billy's face in the first panel. It just doesn't show enough emotion. That's a big problem I have with him -- Since he's got no arms, I have to explain his feelings through facial expressions. The problem is, my facial expressions are never as poignant as I want them to be. Perhaps it's because their eyes are right next to their mouths.
I think this strip is all right though. I recall it was partly inspired by Sherman's Lagoon. Sherman's Lagoon has this sort of subtle style of humor that I can't explain but I really like, and I guess I tried my own version of it here. It ain't perfect, but I'd say it worked.

This and the next two strips were drawn on the sunny shores of Hawaii! This one in particular was inspired by the plant life there. Ferns growing, palms, broadleaf trees-- I tried to incorporate all of them into the backgrounds here. I think the rays of sunlight in this one turned out all right.
Also, I finally posted my Magic Bullet submission! For those of you that never received the paper, now is the time. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Billy-The-Pop/595760133839503?ref=hl

Everyone! This colored strip is important! Believe it or not, the puzzle in the seventh panel is an actual, solvable puzzle!
(Yes. I spent a lot of time figuring that out. Don't judge me.)
Thus, I shall announce the first ever Billy the Pop contest! Whoever can put the puzzle pieces together correctly will be sent an original watercolor drawing of their choosing! If any of you are dedicated enough to do it, that's the least you deserve!
Here are the requirements:
- No puzzle pieces of the same color can touch each other (This is important).
- If you solve it, draw the solution (on paper or digitally). Draw the completed puzzle and where the pieces interlock. Label the colors with their respective letters: Yellow - Y, Green - G, Blue - B, Red - R, Purple -P.
- Send a file of your drawing to billythepop@gmail.com.
Good luck, everyone! I'd be happy to see even one person try it!
(Hint: Try collecting real puzzle pieces of the same shapes and reconfiguring them until they fit!)

This is how I feel about soup. I mean, have you ever really thought about that? It's gross!
(Unless it's hot cocoa, of course.)

I like this one. While not probable, Billy's idea is a pretty great one. I also like the graph he made in the third panel.

I think it's best not to ponder the sort of thing Pete does in this one. As far as I'm concerned, the things you do only matter if they matter to you.

I'm kind of annoyed by the shaded background in the first panel. Not all of the lines are going in the same direction, which always looks bad. I tried to disguise it a bit, but I still don't like it that much. I like everything else about this one, though.
April 6th, 2015
I think Harley's line in the second panel came from, of all places, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, when Rudolph's father is putting his nose-disguising-thing on and Rudolph says it isn't comfortable. I don't think that life isn't just about comfort. Maybe a tiny bit. But not a lot.
Well, today's my last day of break. Hope you had, are having or are going to have a good one.

Hey, everyone! Did you fall for my April Fool's prank last time? If you did, then you'll be surprised I'm still posting. However, you missed a pretty good strip, so go back there and scroll down: April 1st, 2015
Anyhoo, this strip kinda reflects myself, in that I'm usually really hard on myself about most things. Unlike with Pete, though, people tend to make it better instead of worse.

Sorry, everyone. I have to shut down this blog for a while. Sorry for the lack of notice. See you in a couple months.

April Fools!
Heehee, what a sly devil am I! May your day be full of pranks.
Actually, though, I will have to stop posting for a tiny while, until Saturday or Sunday. I'll see y'all then.
I like this one. It's always pretty funny to make a conversation, especially one with arguing. This one is kind of fast and concise with telling the story (it spends the first line of panels just setting up), and while that looks sort of crunched, I like how it turned out.
See you guys on the weekend. Have a good spring break!
